So I had EVERY intention of posting a fun video today, but God had other plans as we battled yet another illness this time with baby Harper. I’m pretty sure I haven’t slept in a solid two weeks…maybe even a month. I even spaced out on pre school pickup time and sent my mom to the school 30 minutes after sweet Emmarie was finished with school. It’s cool, I’ve only been picking her up at the SAME TIME since September. Needless to say I am totally not there mentally. But guess what? I have HOPE! So that’s what I want to share with you today. God blew my mind with this little nugget and I hope it meets you wherever you find yourself…sleep deprived or not ;).
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us…For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope.”
Are you disappointed today? Perhaps you are setback by an illness or something you keep wishing for and wondering if it will ever come to pass. We all have disappointments at different periods in life. Some are large, monumental disappointments that meet us out of nowhere. Others are just the small, day to day disappointments of things not going as planned. The above verse tells us to be encouraged. Did you catch it? God subjected us to futility, suffering, difficulty, in order that He might produce HOPE.
Have you ever been told, “courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to do something even though you are afraid”? May I suggest to you it is the same with hope? Hope is a gift to us that is only given in a moment of disappointment. Hope is not the absence of disappointment, but rather the ability to see past the present circumstances and believe the best is yet to come. Hope is a gift that can only rise up to meet us in the face of difficulty and hardship.
One of the most wonderful aspects of being a Christian is the little gifts God gives us to replace the negatives that are just a part of life. Every negative we face God turns into a positive. Fearful? Meet courage. Hurt by someone? Meet love. Grumpy over a situation? Hello joy. Unsettled over an issue? Enter peace. Facing despair? Howdy HOPE! These special gifts are only available to us when those ugly antonyms present themselves in life. We wouldn’t know courage, love, hope and so much more without being first fearful, hurt and disappointed.
My encouragement to you today would be to receive God’s gift of hope in your disappointing circumstance. Watch this video and take the bridge from despair to HOPE by God’s word!
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
